Day 3: Boyne Valley

In order to understand Christianity in Ireland, you have to understand pre-Christian Ireland.  We will visit the Boyne Valley Region where many of the mythological stories of Ireland originated.  Tara is a prehistoric site where the High Kings of Ireland were once inaugurated.  Step back in time and enjoy the wonderful outdoor sites in this region.

Days 3-7: Delphi Resort & Spa

Day Trip: Kylemore Abbey

Drive through the breathtaking countryside of Connemara.  Visit Kylemore Abby – an impressive Benedictine convent that is a masterpiece of Victorian architecture with time to enjoy the serenity of the grounds – the majestic neo-Gothic chapel and Victorian gardens.


Day Trip: Aran Islands

Inis Mor, Aran Islands (St. Edna’s monastic site and Dun Aengus)  Depart hotel for Boat at Rossaveel Harbor.  From Galway we drive west and boat a ferry to Inis Mor.  Bus tour of island.  St. Edna established a monastic settlement on the island in the early 6th century.  He is known as father of Irish monasticism and his settlement on Inis Mor became a key foundation for the next generation of Irish saints.

Days 8 & 9, Galway, Ireland

Galway City is the capital of Connaught, Ireland’s western province.  It is known as a city of the Tribes. Galway City, explore Galway Cathedral, Lynch’s Castle, The Claddagh, The Spanish Arch and the Corrib River Walk.  Free time in the afternoon, spend your time exploring the medieval streets of Galway or take a stroll along the Promenade out to Salt Hill.

Day Trip: Cliffs of Moher / Burren National Park

The hagged sandstone cliffs continue for 5 miles and stretch out of the sea and offer an impressive 670 ft. drop (not for the faint hearted) into the Atlantic seafoam below.





Day 11 & 12, Dublin, Ireland (time on own)
